What do you think is the greatest inhibitor to people coming together behind a cause?
A lack of time? Apathy? Reputation? or is it just a lack of access to means of organization?
About a month ago, the city of Calgary initiated a new rule enforcing a daily fee at any Calgary Transit C-Train parking lots. The fee is a substantial amount, $4 a day; the charge was a cash-grab. It was enforced only in lots where they knew the demographic would just pay and not vandalize the machines. The point of this story came from the mouth of my mother, outraged by the extra $1000 a year the city of Calgary was going to take from her pocket. After all, she was only parking there to save money and go green.
She said, "They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this, there has to be something I can do to change this... but, what can one person do?"
She had a good point. Today's society is so individualized, you probably don't even know your neighbors names. Everyone is so distracted in their own personal sphere, their own personal problems, that they've failed to notice that these problems are not just their own. It has become a fortunate convenience for the "man-in-charge" that the people focus too much on the cracks in the sidewalk and never raise their heads to take a look around. The power of the people is monumental, a force to be reckoned with! But something has been engrained in us to feel powerless, to feel small, to just accept the way things are, because what else is there? The solution is easy, really. We have to ban together, to unite under a cause. The sound of a thousand voices is a powerful thing. We have to use that power to fight for what is right, to stand together and for the people who cannot stand on their own. And this is how we do it.
The internet, my friends. It's run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, worldwide. I have created here a means to connect Calgarians, Albertans, Canadians, even Internationals. Here, you can get your cause posted and noticed, you can gain support, you can organize. Post your opinions on a topic, host an event, rally together. Here is a site where newcomers can be educated on the real stories, and how to go about creating change. Education is liberation. The world is at a turning point and we are at the forefront. United we stand, Divided we fall.

I don't intend to include headlines in this space, although I will occasionally when it is important and fitting for the conversation. I have always been moved to stand up for what I believe is right, and I have always been frustrated with not being able to do enough. This past year, I have decided I want to be a journalist. So I will be including my own investigative articles in this section, which will probably expand later on. For now, I would like to include some amazing websites that I have found in my construction of this site. Please take a look at all of them!

i think its mostly apathy that keeps the peopple from getting together. there are many causes that people feel strongly about, even myself. but i think that people feel that unless there are hundreds of people showing up for an event it wont make a differnece. and mostly i think there arent that people who show up for protests. at least here in saskatoon.
